CIMODE is a platform for research exchange in Fashion and Design, promoting the discussion of ideas between researchers, academics, designers and other professionals in the fields of Fashion and Design. Through an interdisciplinary dialogue and intercultural perspective, CIMODE aims to generate and present new scenarios on the present and future of Fashion and Design.

Being an inter- and trans-disciplinary conference,  CIMODE explores Fashion and Design at the social, cultural, psychological, and communication perspective, seeking to bring together different approaches and perceptions on the practice, education and culture of Design and Fashion.

Theme of CIMODE 2023: "HILAR LA DIVERSIDAD"

Design aspires to be a humanistic and universal discipline that is easily accessible to all people, equally respecting their differences and integrity. However, this is not always carried out in practice. The complexity of what it means to be human implies going beyond the standards and the dominant culture without alluding to the exclusion, marginalization and/or discrimination of people who deviate from established aesthetic canons, such as people of plus size, seniors, disabled, non-binary, or a variety of ethnicities.
Hilar la Diversidad invites us to see design from a universal and inclusive perspective that manages to embrace minorities to promote plurality.

The congress is based on seven major subjects: Fashion and Communication; Fashion, Identities and Cultures; Fashion and Product Design; Marketing and Consumption in Fashion and Design; Teaching and Education, Sustainability of Fashion and Design; Emotional Design and Fashion.

The congress will include plenary sessions and daily sessions of parallel paper presentations, as well as sessions of posters and presentation of scientific initiation work.

The format will be presential but, depending on the pandemic conditions at the time of the event, there is the possibility of having some sessions online (additional information will be given closer to the event).The format will be mixed, preferably presential, but given the pandemic conditions there is the possibility of it being online.

Language

The official congress language is Portuguese/Spanish/Italian and English with bilingual oral presentations in  Portuguese/English,  Spanish/English or Italian/English.
