Instructions for authors

The official Congress languages are Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and English. The oral presentation will be made in Portuguese, Spanish, Italian or English. However, the support material to the presentation (slideshow) should be bilingual Portuguese / English or Spanish / English or Italian / English. Full papers submitted in Portuguese / Spanish / Italian that are to be published according to Option A - Possibility 1, have to be provided in a high-quality English version.

The submission of papers is done electronically through a paper submission system, which can be accessed from the "Paper Submission" area.

To proceed with the submission, prepare the submission according to the following documents:

Template for papers (Português|English|Español)  (Click on the desired language)
Submission checklist (Português|English|Español)  (Click on the desired language)

Please note that the initial submission MUST NOT CONTAIN ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUTHORS OR ANY OTHER ELEMENTS OF IDENTIFICATION. This information should be included only in the revised final version, after acceptance of the work as described below.

Please carefully read all contents of this section before submitting your full paper (option A1 or A2) or short papers (Option B).

Submission categories

Full papers or posters with short paper may be submitted.

Option A: Full papers- Full papers should be between 6 and 8 pages and should be formatted according to the congress template. They may initially be submitted in any of the conference languages. If accepted, and corrected according to the reviewer comments, at least one of the authors must register in the congress for publication of the paper. There are two possibilities of publication:

Possibility 1: Upon payment of an additional publication fee, the final paper, in high-quality English (if necessary translated/revised by a professional) may be published in a book edited by a renowned international scientific publisher (to be submitted for indexing by ISI and SCOPUS). The authors also have the possibility of publishing a short version (2 pages) in the congress proceedings (with ISBN), in the original language.

Possibility 2: Publication of the full paper in the conference proceedings (with ISBN) in the original language.

Option B: Poster with short paper - Short papers should be 2-4 pages, submitted in any of the conference languages. If accepted, and corrected according to the reviewer comments, at least one of the authors must register in the congress for publication of the paper in the congress proceedings (with ISBN). These works will be presented as poster.

Review Process

All papers submitted will undergo a blind review process carried out at least by two members of the CIMODE Scientific Committee. The review criteria are as follows
- Novelty
- Level of contribution
- Validity of conclusions
- Industrial or application perspective
- Formal qualities of the work.

Stage 1: The authors submit papers electronically in one of two categories (full paper or poster with short paper). Papers should be submitted in unsecured PDF. At this stage, the items MUST NOT CONTAIN ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUTHORS OR ANY OTHER ELEMENTS OF IDENTIFICATION.

Stage 2: The result of the first revision stage is published and the electronic submission for the final version of accepted papers is opened. These are "camera-ready" versions in PDF and Microsoft Word format, and now must include information about the authorship of the article. At this point, the authors are also requested to submit a copyright form that will be provided.

In the case of posters with short papers, instructions for the preparation of the posters will be given when appropriate.

For each registered participant a maximum of two communications will be included in the congress, except for registered students, who can present only one paper. These participants may be co-authors of other works, provided that they are linked to another registration record.

For each extra paper, an additional fee according to the table presented here will be charged.

The maximum number of co-authors by paper is 5.

All accepted papers will be published provided they are received within the deadline and comply with the defined formatting rules. Full papers accepted in the first phase may be rejected in the second phase if the quality of the English is not appropriate. This is also true for incorrect formatting.

Important notes:
• The inclusion of papers in the CIMODE publications requires that the authors agree to present their work at the event. No-shows without previous information (at least one month before) imply the rejection of contributions to the next edition of the event.

• Considering the time limitations for oral presentations, some authors may be invited to present their papers as a poster.

• At least one of the authors must be registered until the deadlines presented in the "Registration" section. If no author is registered until that date, papers will be removed from the program and publications.

• Papers that do not comply with the minimum and maximum page limits will be rejected.
