Information

CIMODE is a platform for research exchange in Fashion and Design, promoting the discussion of ideas between researchers, academics, designers and other professionals in the fields of Fashion and Design. Through an interdisciplinary dialogue and intercultural perspective, CIMODE aims to generate and present new scenarios on the present and future of Fashion and Design.

Being an inter- and trans-disciplinary conference, CIMODE explores Fashion and Design at the social, cultural, psychological, and communication perspective, seeking to bring together different approaches and perceptions on the practice, education and culture of Design and Fashion.

Theme of CIMODE 2026: "WEAVING FUTURES"

"Weaving" is an ancestral gesture and, simultaneously, a profoundly contemporary act. It implies connection, interdependence, time, care, and intention. In "Weaving Futures," CIMODE 2026 proposes thinking about Fashion and Design as active practices in building the future?not just as a reflection of the present, but as critical fields capable of imagining, questioning, and materializing possible futures.
In a context marked by environmental crises, social tensions, accelerated technological transformations, and profound cultural reconfigurations, Fashion and Design assume a central role as mediators between ethics, aesthetics, technology, and society. Futures are woven from material choices, production systems, symbolic narratives, represented identities, mobilized affections, and incorporated technologies.

CIMODE 2026 thus calls for an inter- and transdisciplinary dialogue that crosses traditional and emerging knowledge, artisanal practices and digital processes, critical thinking and design experimentation. "Weaving Futures" is an invitation to reflect on how Fashion and Design can contribute to more sustainable, inclusive, responsible, and culturally conscious models, questioning established paradigms and opening space for new forms of creation, teaching, communication, and consumption.

The congress is based on seven major subjects: Fashion; Fashion and Communication; Identities and Cultures; Fashion and Product Design; Marketing and Consumption in Fashion and Design; Teaching and Education, Sustainability of Fashion and Design; Emotional Design and Fashion.

The congress will include plenary sessions and daily sessions of parallel paper presentations, as well as sessions of posters and presentation of scientific initiation work.

The format will be presential, but there is the possibility of having some sessions online.
